That One Friend.

We all have that one friend.
Who makes you smile when you're feeling terrible.
The only one you spill all of your secrets to.
The one reveals your crazy side.
The one who understands you, no matter what you do.
Don't you just love that one friend?
Without them, what would you do?
I would be a mess.
I wouldn't smile, ever.
I would be serious all the time.
I wouldn't be me.
I wouldn't be complete.
That one friend is amazing.
They make you who you are.

This is dedicated to my BEST FRIEND, Emma. Sure, she can be annoying. But I can too. And everyone has their flaws. And I accept them. She accepts mine. The day I met her was a day I could never forget, because I met my other half of my heart. And my twin. Twinzz forevah! :)

Stars ~ A Short and Simple Post

Stars.

Ever look up in the sky?

What do you see?

Beautiful stars.

Do you wish upon them?

Or do you see your ancestors there?

Stars are a beautiful mystery,

that we admire from far.

Love ~ A Short And Simple Post

A woman has two smiles that an angel might envy, the smile that accepts a lover before words are uttered, and the smile that lights on the first born babe, and assures it of a mother's love.” Thomas C. Haliburton

Have you ever wondered what love is?

How it feels like?

When it happens?

Why it occurs?

I do.

Every day. <3

I wonder about who will be the love of my life, who I will grow old with.

I wonder if it really does happen like the books and movies say it does.

I wonder if it's something amazing.

I wonder when I will fall in love for the first time.

And I wonder what will happen then.

Will Older Laurel know more about love soon?
Hugs and kisses!

I luv ya!
Thank you so much :)

Chapter Two

 Once again. Jazz?

Jazz
Once I got home, I dropped my messenger bag with a plunk. I hung my coat on one of the many hooks on the Standfield family coat rack.
“Mom! Dad! I’m home, and I’m going out to practice!” I shouted to my parents.
“Okay, sweetheart! Make sure no one sees you!” The familiar voice belonging to my mom called back.
I quickly stepped out of my Ugg boots, and ran up the stairs. After I passed Jared’s room, I reached my own.
I swung open my pink and purple decorated door to reveal my room, which was purple themed with touches of pink. I scurried to my bed, and reached underneath of it. My hands grasped something carved and hard.
I took it out from the dusty floor, fingers grasping it tightly. A new zing of excitement zipped through my head to my feet, just like it did every time I held it.
   My bow.
Next, I went to the very back of my closet. I grabbed my quiver of arrows.
I had a secret. One that no one but my family knew about. Not even Emellie. Not even Alexa. My secret.
I took the backdoor. I walked across the green grass of our backyard and cut through many shortcuts and reached the familiar dirt trail in the woods. Eventually, it lead me to a clearing, with a red and white target nailed firmly on a tree.
I reached behind my back and grabbed a silver arrow from my quiver. I fit the notched end into my bowstring and pulled at it. Taking careful aim at the target, I released it. Zing! The arrow shot through the air and hit dead center.
I grinned, pleased at myself. Not bad, Jazz. But you could do even better. At least that’s what Mom and Dad told you.
In our family, my great-great-grandma was a very brave archeress for a king in some somewhere in someplace. Apparently, she’d even saved the entire kingdom along with the princess of the kingdom. I wasn’t quite sure about it, though I’d heard the legend many times. It had kind of passed on, the archeress skills. My grandma had also been a brave archeress for the next king of the same place. But my mom wasn’t. My mom was good, but she didn’t want to be an archeress. She’d preferred to stay home and edit her magazines, instead.
Me, on the other hand, was the most talented archer in the family. More so than my mom, brother, and dad. And also unlike my mom, I absolutely loved shooting. It relaxed me, like it was doing right now.
I went forth to inspect where the arrow had hit. As I did, I noticed that the arrow had pinned a slip of paper on the target.
I took my arrow away and unfolded the paper.

Archeress of many generations,
You are wanted back.
Come.
Along with Princess
And along with the Singer,
To a place you’ve never known about,
But yet you belong here.
Midnight will find you.
He will bring you there.

I folded the piece of paper and tucked it away in my jean pocket. That was weird. It was oddly similar to the story of my great-great-grandma. Going with a Princess to an unknown land. But what did Midnight finding me mean?
Confused, I grabbed another silver arrow from my quiver and shot it. Bulls-eye, again.
After half an hour of shooting, it started getting dark. I decided it was time to go home.
I was walking back, something caught my eye. A Unicorn? It was a magical white, it’s horn swirled with white, pink and blue. Just as my eyes locked on it, it vanished.
Now what in the world did I just see?
I shook the confusing thoughts away and continued back home.

~ ~ ~

   Slam! went the screen door.
“Jazz, have you finished practicing?” The gruff voice of my father called.
“Yeah. It was good. Bull’s-eye every time,” I said, as I kicked off my boots.
“Yeah right, Spazz. Stop bragging. You know you aren’t that good,” My annoying brother Jared said.
“Really? I think you’re just jealous.”
“Of who. You? No, I don’t think you’re worth it.”
I rolled my eyes. This jerk was what I had to deal with every time I went back home. I wish the chair he was sitting in could break, I thought furiously.
   SNAP!
I jumped. “What was that?” I ran into the dining room and found Jared sitting in a broken chair.
   I gasped. “What happened?”
He groaned, sitting up from the broken chair. “This stupid chair snapped on me.”
My head was swimming. Could it be? No, it couldn't. Things can’t just happen because I thought them.
   Could they?

Princess of Perildton ~ Part One

Haii, peoples. This is a new story! For my FIRST EVER fantasy!!! :O
So. That's why it may not be all that great. But who cares? I certainly don't. Because. I. Love. Writing.
Anyhoo, I wanna hear your thoughts! Please comment.
Don't be mean. Unless it's constructive criticism. But that shouldn't be mean.
*Clears throat*
One more thing:
It's my story, 'kay?
'Kay. O.o

A Very Short Prologue

Magickal Ritual Sacred Tools: Crystal Ball.

   "Are you sure it's her?"
"Nonsense! It's my own daughter! I know what she looks like!"
The crystal ball glowed bright, and then suddenly the girl with brown curls disappeared from it. But the ball kept glowing. And glowing. And glowing. The King and Teller couldn't take their hands away from their eyes.
   CRASH!
The crystal ball broke and shattered into a million pieces.
A dark and rich voice came out of nowhere and spoke. "She will save."
On cue, the million pieces of the crystal ball rose up and formed a ball again.  It stopped glowing and made it seem like absolutely nothing had happened.

"W-w-what does this mean?" The King asked, terrified.
"Your kingdom is about to fall in pieces. That’s what the crystal ball breaking meant. Your daughter will come, and she will save your kingdom.” And with that, Teller disappeared.

Chapter One
character inspiration- Emily Baker
Emellie
I blinked, the bright sun in my eyes. My arm swung to the alarm clock on my bedside table. 7:50, it read. All of a sudden I was more awake. 7:50!!! I WAS LATE FOR SCHOOL!
I leaped out of bed and tore open my closet. Oh, the choices the choices. There was no time for that now. I grabbed some clothes that looked good together and put them on, my hands a blur. I brushed my brown wavy hair and used a clip to pull my bangs backward. I looked at myself at the mirror, and rushed downstairs.
"Mom!" I called. "I'm late! I have to go -  bye love you!"
"Wait - Emellie, there's something I need to te-" My mom started. But by then it was too late. I had already put on my coat and mittens and gone outside.
I sprinted all the way to the stop sign where Alexa, Jazz and I met. There they were, about to go. Probably tired of waiting for me. "Hey! Wait!" I called, my black Sorel boots banging on the paved sidewalk.
They turned. When Alexa and Jazz saw me, they waved. "Hi Em!" Jazz greeted with a smile on her face. "We were just about to go. Where were you?"
"Hey Jazz. Hey Alexa," I panted. "Apparently my alarm clock needs new batteries, because I didn't hear its annoying beep today."
"Em, it's fine. I was just a bit surprised when Jazz showed up before you," Alexa teased.
Jazz, as fashion queen of Elkwood Elementary, was always "fashionably late."
Jazz playfully punched Alexa on the arm. "Come on, Lex. I'm not that bad."
I laughed. "Sure you aren't. So, remind me, just how many times have you been late this year?"
Jazz thought for a second. "Only ten! Oh wait... Fifteen. Never mind, twenty."
"And school only started a month ago," Alexa shook her head in a what are we going to do with you way. Alexa, as brain of the grade, was always punctual and on time.
"Well, Alexa dear, being late once in a while could be healthy, you know?" Jazz teased her.
"Guys, seriously? We should talk about something else," I suggested.
They looked at me, surprised. "Like what?"
I grinned knowingly. "Oh, just, something simple, like, maybe our school starts in 3 minutes and we're still at the stop sign meeting place?"
"Oh. My. Gosh!" They screamed, and started sprinting down the sidewalk.
I sighed. My two best friends could be so ditzy at times. I started running also. I was fast, and caught up to them in a few seconds. Then passed them in another few seconds.
"Bye guys! See you there!" I called.
They made some good-natured faces at me, and then continued running.
I relaxed, feeling the wind on my face and in my hair. Running was my thing. Alexa and Jazz always encouraged me to join the track team, but it never seemed worth it to me. I liked to run, alone and for leisure time.

I found my way into school with one minute to spare. Alexa and Jazz should be able to make it, I thought.
Sure enough, just as the bell rang, Alexa and Jazz came in the school yard, faces red and taking fast, short breaths. I grabbed them by their arms and dragged them into the doorway of the school.
And so the school day began.
~ ~ ~
As I walked home from school after Jazz and Alexa had gone, I found something in front of my doorstep. A little piece of paper with fancy cursive words.
I reached down and picked it up.
To Emellie, it read.
Emellie? My name was Emellie. Could it be addressed to me?
After a moment's hesitation, I opened the folded paper.
You are the Saver.
We need you.
Come.
A place you've never known about,
but yet you belong here.
The Unicorn that you possess
Will come alive when you say
I am Emellie, the Princess.

Confused, I tucked it in my pocket. What did it mean? I decided that it was nothing but a joke, but I would ask my mom about it.

"Mom! I'm home!" I went into the living room and found my mom reading a letter.
I dropped my backpack and plopped down on the couch beside her. "Whatcha reading?
She started, as if just noticing me. She seemed flustered.
"Mom? Is something wrong?" My body had an alarm for whenever my mom was upset. When you grow up alone with your mom, that's what happens.
My dad died when I was still little. I have no idea of him in my head. I've seen pictures of him, but I could never recall him talking to me, or rocking baby me in his arms. I really did wish that I could remember. When Father's Day comes, I feel so alone. Everyone is planning what to do for their dads while I have nothing to say, just sitting there wishing I still had a dad.
My mom turned around, smiling. But the smile didn't reach her eyes. "Nothing is wrong, Emellie. Just thinking about your dad.
"Oh. I miss him also, mom." I reached out and gave her a hug.
She wrapped her arms around me and patted my back in a soothing rhythm. "I know you do, honey. I know you do."
I snuggled in my mom's arms for a few minutes. After many hours in the kitchen, she smelled like a combination of delicious foods mixed with her Violets perfume. I breathed it all in.
My mom pulled away from me first. "Emellie, I've got to go make dinner, okay? I think you'll enjoy what I have planned for you tonight."
I nodded. "Okay!"

When she left, I went upstairs to my room. I immediately dropped down on my bed. I loved it, it was so relaxing. I looked at my alarm clock. There was something beside it. A unicorn ceramic figure. It was white with glitter over it, and the horn was a light baby blue with touches of a bright hot pink.
I touched it gently, and then picked it up. Huh. I didn't remember buying it before. Where had it come from?
Suddenly, I remembered something. The note! I took it out of my pocket and reread the part about the Unicorn.

The Unicorn that you possess

Will come alive when you say
I am Emellie, the Princess.

I gasped inwardly. Did it mean that when I say those five words, this unicorn model would become a real, live, magical unicorn?
I rushed downstairs and shouted, “Mom! Be right back!”
I speed-walked outside and went into a spot where no one could see me. I placed the unicorn ceramic model on the soft green grass carpet and quickly said,
I am Emellie, the Princess.
For a few seconds, nothing happened. I furrowed my brow. Maybe my hunch wasn’t right, then. But just as I reached forward to take it away, the glitter on the unicorn ceramic began to move. My hand dropped back to my side.
The glitter moved around the unicorn’s body. Slowly, the unicorn kept getting larger and larger until it got to the height of a real horse.
The unicorn’s mouth opened. But instead of neighing, it spoke.
“Hello, Princess Emellie.”
